Disney Bound!

Less than one week and we are headed here:

Yes, you are correct, Walt Disney World, the mouse house, nirvana, what ever you may choose to call it. Little Miss Bella is sooooo excited to see the Princesses. Truly, I don't think Lily ever got that excited about a trip to Disney. I will be sure to post lots of pictures.

We are leaving on Saturday to spend a few days in Ft. Lauderdale with my parents and then we will travel up to Orlando with them. After the nightmare on the airplane two trips ago I have either wisely or foolishly (time will tell) invested in these:

This is the CARES Airplane Restraint System. It is FAA approved so an excellent alternative to car seats. But it will still keep my little monkey safely sitting while on the plane. Am I buying them for safety? No, I really am not. Since my hubby is a pilot and a airline safety guru I know that in the event of an accident it isn't going to matter. However, I don't want to be one of those people who get kicked off the plane when my two-year old twins can't sit still for 3 hours. When we took the huge Britax Marathon seats to San Antonio in April it was wonderful. They sat still and didn't complain once. Why? They are use to sitting in their seats. So I am hoping the same theory applies here. For 79.99 a piece it better or back they go. I will keep you posted.

More later!

Headed back to the doctor

Well, here it is Friday. Four full days after I posted the pictures above of Aiden's toe. We are headed back to the doctor today since as of last night he had a temperature of 103.8. So, is it still the toe? Is it simply a virus? I can tell you he is acting sick which is so unlike him. Last night he got down from the dinner table on his own accord, after not taking a bite, didn't say one word and walked upstairs, laid down in his bed and went to sleep. Can you say strange? Never has my child acted like that. So off we go to my most trusted pediatrican this afternoon.

You Can't Be Serious?

After waiting for three hours on Sunday night in urgent care at Children's and after the nurse told me that my son's toe was infected (notice the red creeping up his leg) the good doctor (ur, resident) came in and told me that it wasn't indeed infected but it was a callous. "Your joking, right? Not infected. Umm, that is not what the nurse said," I exclaimed. "What is this red inflammation creeping up his leg," I asked. "Well the callous might be sore," the good doctor said. Right!!!

So I asked for antibiotics just in case it got worse. She reluctantly gave them to me. Last night, (Monday) he started to run a fever and was very quiet and didn't want to move. Thank God for my cousin-in-law who is a paramedic who came over and lanced it and drained it. We started him on the antibiotic and today (Tuesday) it looks a little better. At least it is not worse.

I took the pictures as we will follow up with his wonderful pediatrician on Friday. I plan to show him these pictures. I know medicine is a "practice" but come on. What if I took her word for it and moved on and didn't keep an eye on it? What if my cousin wasn't able to help? It is just so frustrating and truly what do I have to complain about. That is minor, trivial, compared to what many families are facing right now.

For those of you in my limited readership I have a favor to ask of you. Please pray for little Kennedy who has undergone spinal surgery. Kennedy's mom Renee is an amazing women and I follow her blog which is just so wonderful and puts mine to shame. Kennedy and her entire family truly need your prayers right now as she recovers from major spine surgery. You can check out her mom's blog and follow her progress at Life with My Special K's
